Heinz Norbert Jocks ends his contribution to the catalogue "Lichtbilder", published in 2006 by the Sparkasse in Essen with the words:

"...as these photographs prove everything in the works of Heinz Mack refers to his close relationship to an immaterial appearance of light, which is constantly changing in nature, as well as to the poetic power of a beauty which comes from the spirit of pure abstraction. It cannot be overseen that Mack is not a friend of depictive photog-raphy, where one can recognize that which has been photographed, where the con-tents of the photo allows one to draw conclusions about the object which has been photographed. In the centre of his aesthetic interest is the vehement wish to provide light with an adequate form of expression. It is more or less declared to be an arte-fact."
